Florida Wins the BCS!
January 9, 2009
With Tim Tebow at the reins, Florida won in a relatively easy victory over OU to win the BCS national title. The Gators on 24-14, which wasn’t the high scoring affair that many expected it to be, thus, leaving USC, Texas, and Utah with hopes of ending the year in the top spot.
Tebow had two interceptions in the game; however, he played well in the clutch, leading the game-clinching drive with just over 3 mins remaining in the game. Running back Percy Harvin described the team leader by saying “Tebow, just call him Superman.” He was definitely Superman for the Gators in this hard-fought game, as he ran for 109 yards and was the emotional leader of the team.
Both the Sooner’s Sam Bradford and the Gator’s Tim Tebow plan to explore their potential in the NFL draft, which means that both teams may be without their Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks next season.
The final AP poll rankings will be released early tomorrow morning.
