Bjorndalen Wins World Championship Gold After Protest
The great Norwegian Ole Einar Bjorndalen won his record 12th World Championship gold in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He missed 4 shots, but he still easily won in a time of 32 minutes and 46.7 seconds. After the race, however, Bjorndalen and nine others were penalized for going off of the course early in the race. Consequently, Maxim Tchoudov, who had finished 41.7 seconds behind Bjorndalen, was awarded the gold. After a protest, however, the penalty was overturned and Bjorndalen was awarded the gold. The silver went to Russian Maxim Tchoudov and the bronze went to Alexander Os of Norway.
