4th ranked Andy Murray has shown that last year’s success was not just a fluke, as he defeated world number 1, Rafael Nadal, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. It was a hard-fought match and both players were impressive at times; but, ultimately it was the Scotsman who came out on top. “It is a great start to the year. I worked very hard on my fitness and game in November and December and both Rafa and Roger played great tennis, so I am delighted that I could beat them,” said Murray.  He also added that “right now, all I can say is that I am feeling very tired. It was a tough match and he made me run a lot. This is just the first week of the year and you do feel it in the body.”

Hopefully, he isn’t too tired because he will need his strength on Monday, when he plays in the opening tournament of the year, the Qatar Open. Both Nadal and Federer will also be playing in Qatar.

Here is video of the end of the match.
