In the beginning, it was close; but, after halftime, it seemed like nothing could go right for the Chargers. San Diego began to make mistakes and Pittsburgh played flawlessly, taking advantage of nearly every mistake that the Chargers made. In a 35-24 win, Ben Roethlisberger threw for 181 yards and a touchdown; but, even more impressive was Willie Parker, who had by far his best game of the season, running for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns.  In the second half alone, the Steelers were able to take advantage of a 44 yd pass interference call against San Diego and an interception thrown by Philip Rivers. It was enough of a blow-out that with just over 3 minutes remaining in the game, Byron Leftwich took over for Roethlisberger.

Pittsburgh’s defense was strong, as they constantly pressured Philip Rivers, sacking him 4 times. In addition, they effectively stopped the Chargers running game, allowing only 15 total rushing yards.

Pittsburgh will next face the Baltimore Ravens in what has become a very heated rivalry between two defensive powerhouses. In fact, they have already faced each other twice this season, with the Steelers winning both of the close battles.
