For weeks, the question of whether or not UNC would be able to have an undefeated regular season was addressed on nearly every NCAA Basketball television show and from what I saw, most commentators believed that an undefeated season was definitely a possibility. In the span of one week, however, the Tar Heels have lost, not only once, but twice. This time, they have fallen to fellow ACC team, 4th ranked, Wake Forest.

It was a hard-fought game that was tied at the half; but, the Deamon Deacons were able to edge UNC 92-89. Led by Jeff Teague’s 34 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds, Wake Forest remains undefeated, with a 14-0 record. Chas McFarland was also an important playmaker for Wake, as he scored 20 points. UNC’s superstar, Tyler Hansbrough, scored 17 points; but, had only 2 rebounds, which is far below his average of 7. In addition, Ty Lawson, who has averaged over 15 points a game, was only able to score 9 against the tough Deamon Deacon defense.

This loss for UNC makes their conferance record a shocking 0-2 and it makes Duke the early favorite to win the conferance title. Wake Forest next faces fellow ACC teams Boston College and Clemson, while UNC will next face Virginia and Miami.
