Video of the Day

For those of you who only watch ski jumping during the Olympics, here is a good look st someone to watch for in Vancouver, which is just a little over 1 year away. Today, at the World Cup Ski Jumping Meet in Bad Mitterndorf, Austrian Gregor Schlierenzauer won his second World Cup meet in two days, to the delight of his home crowd. Yesterday, he set the hill record with an amazing jump of 215.5 meters; but, he didn’t need to match that jump today, as he was able to win with jumps of 203.5m and 202m. This was his fourth win this season and his fifth win in a row on a flying hill.

Schlierenzauer, who is only 19 years old, has been a force in ski jumping ever since he entered his first World Cup, in Norway, which he won.  He has since won 3 World Ski Jumping titles and 15 World Cup events. If he keeps up at this impressive pace, Schlierenzauer will definitely be a force in Vancouver.

Here is the video of his record-breaking jump, from yesterday, of 215.5 meters at Bad Mitterndorf, Austria.
