It had been nearly three years since Notre Dame had last lost at home. That all came to an end today, however, when Connecticut defeated them 69-61. The game was a competitive one, with UConn leading by only 1 point at the half, but the Huskies were able to pull away from the Fighting Irish and secure an all-important victory over a tough Big East opponent.

Luke Harangody had 24 pts for the Fighting Irish, but he was the only real bright spot in what is a tough loss for Notre Dame. Third ranked Connecticut, however, had three players in double figures and it was Jerome Dyson who lead the way with 15 pts.

The Huskies should have a little bit of a breather in their next two games, as they face two of the few unranked Big East teams: DePaul and Providence.
