Sebastien Loeb is the five-time defending World Rally Champion and yet, it seems like he will achieve even more greatness, as his dominance continued in the first race of the season, which took place in Ireland. Loeb blew away the competition and won by 1 min and 27.9 seconds over his teammate Dani Sordo. Mikko Hirvonen finished in third, 2 minutes and 7.8 seconds behind Loeb.

After the race, Loeb said that “It’s been a really tough rally but I’m very happy to take the 10 points. Tarmac rallies are especially important to me. This one has been tricky for everyone, but now we’re here at the finish with maximum points. It’s a good start to the season.”

Last season, Loeb won 11 of the 15 rallies, en route to his 5th consecutive championship title. This is his second victory in Ireland, the first being in the 15th round of the 2007 season.
