Over the past two years, Amelie Mauresmo has struggled to win over top 10 players, but these week she was able to beat three in a row en route to winning the Open GDF Suez title. Mauresmo defeated Agnieszka Radwanska in the quarterfinals, Jelena Jankovic in the semifinals, and Elena Dementieva in the final 7-6(7),2-6,6-4. Dementieva has been one of the most consistent players on tour, as of late, so this is an impressive win for the Frenchwoman.

After the match, Mauresmo said that “I have had hard times. I did some soul searching by the end of last year and there is a new dynamic, a good preparation during the winter.”
