coach calhoun by Cheryl Rice. The University of Connecticut Huskies will be without their coach Jim Calhoun during their first round matchup against UT-Chattanooga, which takes place later today.

In a release that was issued by UConn, the school’s director of sports medicine stated that “Coach Calhoun has not been feeling well for the past several days and it is best that he not coach the team today for precautionary reasons.”

Calhoun has had heal issues recently, including two battles with cancer. It is unknown whether or not he will be able to coach the Huskies if they advance in the tournament.

Assistant coach George Blaney will take Calhoun’s place against the sixteenth seeded Mocs.
