It’s day 2 of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and Sports Scoop will have updated information about the games throughout the day. Enjoy!

Game #1: 3 Syracuse def. 14 Stephen F. Austin 59-44

–The Orange have been hot lately, as they were the runner-ups in the Big East Tournament. They proved today that they deserved the number three seed because they never allowed SFA to have a chance in this one.

Game #2: 3 Kansas def. 14 North Dakota State 84-74

–The Bison kept this game much closer than most people had expected. In the end, however, the better team prevailed.

Game #3: 8 Oklahoma St. def. 9 Tennessee 77-75

–What a game! This one was sloppy at times, but it was always close. Tennessee had a chance to win it, but they missed what would have been the game-winning three-point shot.

Game #4: 6 Marquette def. 11 Utah St. 58-57

–Utah St. gave Marquette definitely gave Marquette a scare. Marquette had a big lead early, but the Aggies started hitting threes in the second and were able to close in on the Golden Eagles. Marquette’s victory makes the Big East a perfect 4-0 in the tournament, thus far.

Game #5: 6 Arizona St def. 11 Temple 66-57

–Temple kept it close early, but the Sun Devil were too much for Temple, in the end. This is the second year in a row that Temple was eliminated in the first round.

Game #6: 1 Pittsburgh def. 16 East Tennessee StateĀ  72-62

–The Buccaneers looked like they could upset the Panthers, but Pitt was able to grind out a win against a tough East Tennessee St. team.

Game #7: 3 Missouri def. 14 Cornell 78-59

–Missouri blew the Ivy League Champs away in this matchup. Big win for the Tigers.

Game #8: 11 Dayton def. 6 West Virginia 68-60

–West Virginia is the first Big East casualty in the tournament. This game was a close one, but it was Dayton that was able to upset the Mountaineers and advance to the second round. Dayton, however, will have a tougher battle in the second round, as they will face Kansas.

Game #9: 1 Louisville def. 16 Morehead St. 74-54

–The Eagles kept it close early, but Louisville raised their game to another level and Morehead St. simply wasn’t able to keep up

Game #10: 12 Arizona def. 5 Utah 84-71

–Arizona was the sexy pick for a first round upset and the Wildcats delivered. They lead Utah from the very beginning and they never looked back.

Game #11: 10 USC def. 7 Boston College 72-55

–The Trojans proved that their Pac-10 tournament championship wasn’t a fluke, as they easily defeated Boston College. They will likely face a much tougher test in the next round, as they could face number 2 seed Michigan St.

Game #12: 4 Xavier def. 13 Portland State 77-59

–This one was a blowout by the end of the first half. Xavier thoroughly dominated the Vikings, as they showed that they are a dark horse in this tournament.

Game #13: 9 Siena def. 8 Ohio St. 74-72

–Siena prevailed in this 2OT thriller and repeated their upset performance from last year.

Game #14: 13 Cleveland St. def. 4 Wake Forest 84-69

–Cleveland St. is the Cinderella story of this tournament. This game was expected to be a blowout, but not with the Vikings coming out on top. If they don’t have a letdown in their next game, they could be a team to watch.

Game #15: 2 Michigan St. def. 15 Robert Morris 77-62

–Robert Morris kept this one much closer than the scoreline suggests. The Spartans better get their act together if they want to be mentioned in the same sentence as Louisville, UConn, or UNC.

Game #16: 12 Wisconsin def. 5 Florida St. 61-59

–This one was another OT thriller. The Seminoles led for most of the game, but the Badgers were able to perform in the clutch.
