Retief Goosen Wins the Transitions Championship

Goosen waiting on the 10th by cvogle.Retief Goosen shot a one-under round of 70 to finish eight-under for the week and win his first PGA Tour even since 2005. Goosen started off poorly with a bogey on the second, but he performed in the clutch, as he sunk a five foot putt for the victory.

After his victory, Goosen said that “eventually you wonder if you can still do it. I did win in Malaysia
in November, and I won in South Africa in January. So at least I’ve won
some events in the last few months. Although they
are not big events, I’ve beat some good players. You can just keep
trying. It’s great to be able to be in that position and to actually
pull it off. It was great to see that last one roll in.”

Brett Quigley and Charles Howell III both finished one shot behind Goosen.

American Tom Lehman was the overnight leader, but he shot a disappointing four-over.
