ATP Miami: Nadal Tested By Wawrinka

World number 1 Rafael Nadal was heavily challenged by the 16th seeded Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka on Tuesday evening, in what was a closely fought match in which both players were masterful at times. Nadal eventually won in two tiebreak sets and he was overjoyed, as he celebrated on the court after getting the win.

After the match, Nadal said that “I improved a lot today in the match. I was very focused and I played two good tie-breakers, so that’s very good. I am really happy right now. Sure, I can play better. You can’t always play 100%, but today I am happy.”

The Spaniard will face 6th seeded Juan Martin del Potro in the quarterfinals. He holds a 4-0 career record over the Argentine, including a win the the quarterfinals of Indian Wells just two weeks ago.

Nadal, who has been the runner-up twice at the Sony Ericsson Open, will be looking for his first title in Miami.
