Roger Federer Marries Mirka Vavrinec

daily-bulletinRoger Federer has announced on his website that earlier today he married his longtime girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec.

Dear Fans

Earlier today, in my hometown of Basel, surrounded by a small group of close friends and family, Mirka and I got married. It was a beautiful spring day and an incredibly joyous occasion.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Federer wish all of you a Happy Easter weekend.

Love,
Roger

Federer and Vavrinec met at the Olympics in 2000 and have been together ever since. They are expecting their first child together in the summer.

It looks like Federer’s personal life is going much better than his professional life. If only he could translate his off-court happiness into some wins. Well, he will be playing in Monte Carlo this week. Unfortunately for Federer, Nadal is the 4-time and defending champion.

Congrats!

u dont seem to happy about this. “hopefully roger will translate this into some wins” u said. Just cuz Rog isnt winning everything (which is his usual standard) doesnt mean he isnt winning. He has made atleast the semifinals at every tournament he has played in so far. Nadal cant say that, can he?

    Peace. Love. Federer

It is true that Fed has been in the semis in every tournament he has entered, which is good, but there has only been one tournament that Nadal hasn’t made the semis (Miami) and he made the quarters there. So, I think that his two victories in big tournaments outweighs the one tournament that he didn’t make the quarters. The fact of the matter is that at the beginning of the season Nadal was 2550 pts ahead of Federer and now, he is 3450 pts ahead of Fed. For Nadal to gain nearly 1000 pts on Federer during the hard court season is staggering. Plus, Murray doesn’t have hardly any pts at all to defend in the upcoming months, so Federer will likely have to match his finishes in the French and Wimbledon, as well as, Monte Carlo (F), Hamburg (F), and Halle (W) if he doesn’t want Murray to be breathing down his neck for the number 2 ranking when the summer hard court season comes around.

Federer shouldn’t be expected to win every tournament, but him not having a win this season, when his rivals have multiple victories, is definitely disappointing.

those r the numbers, but i thought in a post like this, u would be more congratulatory towards federer, instead of constantly bringing up the fact that murray and nadal are having more succesful seasons. I think the news of federer getting married should be happier, instead of bringing up the fact that he hasnt met expectations. I do luv ur blog though.

I’m sorry. I think that it is great that they got married and are having a child together, especially since he has previously said that it is something that he has wanted for a long time.

I am really happy for him!
